Erasmus+ for Traineeship mobility

The Erasmus+ programme for traineeship enables students to undertake mobility for traineeships, for a period of between 2 and 12 months, starting also from the first year of study. It is possible to carry out mobility at a research centre, a company or other foreign professional organisation located in one of the countries participating in the programme, or (with the establishment of the new Erasmus+ programme 2021/27) in one of the partner countries.

The programme provides for mobility both for curricular activities and for activities to be carried out following the achievement of the degree. In the latter case, the candidate must submit the application before the date of graduation.

To ensure quality, mobility must be compatible with the student's academic pathway and, in particular for post-graduate activities, with the chosen career pathway.

To take part in the call for applications, which allows financial support for mobility, students must be regularly enrolled at the university and the placement period abroad must preferably be an integral part of their career. Two different types of mobility are available: structured mobility, in which the Department provides students with a choice of approved host institutions including a pre-agreed training project, and individual mobility, in which students look for a host institution and propose a training project.
The home institution gives full recognition to the curricular activity carried out and certified and the mobility period is recorded in the student's career and in the Diploma Supplement.

Undertaking an internship mobility allows students to acquire practical skills and knowledge through carrying out the professional activities envisaged in their degree course objectives, supported by international professionals. In addition to carrying out work activities and creating a network of professional contacts useful for the future, students will be able to confront life in a city other than their own, learn or improve a new language, foster interpersonal relationships and explore new places.

The Department has successfully joined the Erasmus programme for traineeship purposes since the first year of activation in the academic year 2007/2008 thanks to a network of international agreements developed earlier for traineeship activities in students' careers. The Department currently has 18 active agreements for structured mobility for the different study courses. In addition, it makes available to interested students on the department's e-learning platform (link: https://elearning.uniss.it/mod/forum/view.php?id=65814) a contact list of host institutions that have welcomed students in the past and prefer to make a direct selection, together with the various offers from institutions interested in hosting trainees and the web addresses where it is possible to search for individual host institutions. Finally, on the same platform all news about calls for applications, information meetings and guidelines for participation in the programme and procedures for the recognition of training credits are published.
