Associate Professor

Matteo Moretti is a designer and associate professor at the University of Sassari. His research focuses on data design for social issues, especially in visual journalism and digital social design, using both quantitative and qualitative methods. He has taught at Unibz, Elisava, Unifi, and Unirsm. His work has received several awards, including the Data Journalism Award (2015) and the European Design Award (2016, 2017, 2025). He served on the jury for the World Press Photo Digital Storytelling Contest in 2017 and 2018 and was named one of the 100 ambassadors of Italian design by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2018. Moretti is a founding partner of Sheldon.studio, a socially-driven data design studio, and an active member of the international social design network.
