Occupational and professional opportunities

The aim of the school is to train high-profile professional and research figures qualified for project management at the various scales

  • urban/territorial - with particular attention to environmental dynamics and the forms and processes that characterise them;
  • architectural, through methods, techniques and tools for the reading, interpretation, representation and management of the different project contexts of the territory, down to the scale of the object and design;
  • environmental, with particular attention to the geological, ecological, botanical and land-use aspects of a territory.

After completing the PhD, one can find employment in research, teaching, the profession and public administration in managerial, coordination and management positions. An operator with a high cultural and technical level able to address with appropriate awareness and preparation the problems currently posed by the complexity of the urban and territorial reality such as:

  • living and the evolution of the built environment;
  • the historical, architectural and archaeological heritage;
  • the overcoming of the city/countryside articulation and the diffuse city;
  • the city of rights, forms of citizenship, injustices in their spatial articulation and inclusion;
  • environment, territory and landscape: green infrastructures, sustainable development and the new environmental challenges;
  • new demographic configurations, depopulation, and the fate of metropolises;
  • geology, botany, ecology and land use as foundations of the territory;
  • the many dimensions of design and planning;
  • construction techniques, innovative technologies for architecture, materials and metamaterials;
  • objects that make us intelligent and the digitisation of reality;
  • graphic sciences and the representation of the contemporary project;
  • the philosophy of architecture and the methodology of the project.
