Analysis of land–atmosphere interactions in rapidly urbanizing tropical regions and exploration of spatial and temporal dynamics of heatwaves and their interactions with the Urban Heat Island effect.
Multi-source climatic and satellite datasets are used to derive and interpret key heatwave indicators following internationally recognized methodologies, developing an integrated understanding of how land-surface processes, urban morphology, and climate variability jointly shape thermal extremes.

Salvatore Virdis

Associate Professor at the Asian Institute of Technology in Thailand, with over two decades of experience in Environmental Geo-Information and Earth Observation Science. His research integrates advanced remote sensing techniques, data-driven geospatial modeling, and climate science to address pressing environmental and societal challenges across diverse global regions and over a wide range of spatial and temporal scales.
