Giulia Laura Faedda PhD student Short bio Giulia Laura Faedda is a PhD candidate in Architecture, Design and Urban Planning at the University of Sassari. Her research project, “Fossil insect nests as paleoclimate indicators”, focuses on using fossil insect traces to reconstruct past climate conditions. She collaborated on the HORIZON 2020 IN-TIME project, applying luminescence dating techniques to geological samples from Mars analogue environments. Her main field is ichnoentomology, but she has experience in paleoenvironmental analysis, sedimentology, OSL dating, and marine biology. She has presented her work at international conferences (INQUA, IAS, ISC) and authored several abstracts. She has also organized scientific events, including the Summer School “Be In-Time On Mars” (2023) and the 8th International Planetary Dunes Workshop (2025). She has received academic awards and an IAS travel grant, and is actively involved in student mentoring and science outreach.
