Marta Lai PhD student Short bio PhD scholarship in the Department of Architecture, Design and Urban Planning at the University of Sassari. Her research project focuses on developing a portable instrument to perform luminescence dating of Quaternary sedimentary deposits. The aim of her research project is to develop a portable instrument for dating sediments and rocks directly in the field, with the intention of reducing analysis times. This approach is essential for studying climate oscillations, since geochronology enables the age and frequency of climate cycles to be determined. Understanding these variations is essential for interpreting climate change and predicting its future evolution. Furthermore, these cycles have a profound influence on the landscape, causing phenomena such as sea-level rise and ice melt, which have a significant impact on ecosystems and the natural environment.
